Introduction: |
Technological advancement and the pandemic environment compelled libraries to adapt to
the new normal and provide services with the help of emerging technologies in the comfort of the library users. This program will enlighten the participants with the latest technology integration in library systems across the globe like Automation and digitization, IR, QR Code, ERM, RFID, Profiling Systems, Discovery Services, Social Media employment for
library services, Green Library, Ranking/Accreditation, Mobile Library Services, Expert Systems and Robotics in libraries, IoT, Augmented Reality Tools and Virtual Reality, Semantic Web, AI, Machine learning, etc. All these technologies would be beneficial for efficiently and effectively providing library clientele services.

Objectives: |
The Course aims to help library professionals and teaching faculty in Library and Information Science enhance their technical and professional skills by rejuvenating their Library and/or its curriculum in a pandemic situation through a digital environment. This program will also help the LIS professionals and teachers take their library sources, services, and LIS education beyond the four walls of the physical Library. It will help them employ ICT tools for better dissemination of information. |

About Instructor: |
Dr. M. Vijay Kumar, Course Coordinator, University Librarian, at Pondicherry University, gave an overview of this refresher course and the areas of deliberations coverage during the inaugural session. Dr. M. Vijay Kumar facilitated the first technical session, University Librarian, Pondicherry University, on the topic "Reimaging the Library Concept to Reconnect the Community." In his lecture, he focused on innovative approaches to library concepts like library reading rooms as Library silent zones, Library orientation Programs as Library Literacy Services, and Hot spots as Library Spots. He has also been enriched with the knowledge of Book Talk Clubs, Reading Clubs, the
Human Library, the Book Launch Ceremony, and the library Collection for the Community. He also highlighted reference management tools, Similarity Check Tools, and social network Tools for libraries. |

Certification: |
(i) A+: 85 percent and above
(ii) A: 70 per cent to less than or equal to 84 percent
(iii) B: 60 per cent to less than or equal to 69 per cent
(iv) C: 50 per cent to less than or equal to 59 per cent
(v) F: Below 49 per cent
Those teacher participants who get F grades are required to repeat the programme
after a gap of one year without financial commitment to UGC-HRDC.
A certificate is provided to all the eligible participants signed by the Director, HRDC; Course Co-ordinator and The Vice Chancellor.

Assessment Plan Method: |
The total marks are fixed at 100 and the same may be decided in the following
manner:
The participants were assessed based on five criteria, namely Participants’ Response, Seminar Presentation, Micro Teaching, Project Proposals, and Objective Type Test. The assessment was made based on the overall participation of the participants and their performance in the evaluation processes.
(i) Overall response - 25
(ii) Seminars - 15
(iii) Project work- 20
(iv) Micro-teaching - 10
(v) Multiple-choice objective tests -30
