| Introduction: | ‘A Two-Week Online Refresher Course in (Inter/Multi-Disciplinary) in ‘Current Studies [Natural and Social]’ was organized by UGC HRDC, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar under the visionary leadership of worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu from January 12, 2022 to January 25, 2022. The Course had been organized by the Course-Coordinator Prof. Rajesh Kumar from School of Social Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, under the able guidance of Director-HRDC-GNDU Prof. (Dr.) Sudha Mahajan, with the aim to train in-service teachers as per UGC norms and enable them attain necessary wherewithal for their continuous development and skill-enhancement. The thrust areas of this course have been to provide knowledge regarding the contemporary domains of the current study, research and approach that researchers, scholars and the scientist follow to designs the current studies to meet the desires goals that world see to be fittest for the ideal existence. The New Education Policy 2020 is framed to meet the demands of the 21st century aims, reality skill on the lines of Information Technology and Communication (ICT). | Objectives: | Understand the significance in general and higher education in particular, in the global and Indian contexts. Acquire and improve basic skills of teaching at the college/university level to achieve goals of higher education. Understand the organization and management of a college/university and to perceive the role of teachers in the total system. Utilize opportunities for development of personality, initiative and creativity. To equip university and college teachers to adapt to innovative teaching pedagogy into nine different elements as learner role, strategies, enablers, practice, culture, policies, educator role, learning outcomes and pedagogical beliefs. Updating and providing them knowledge about contemporary issues in the field of interdisciplinary or multi-disciplinary research in Humanities and Social Sciences. All the lectures had been very enriching, interactive and precisely relevant in bringing back the participants to basics in their domain of Humanities and Social Sciences. |

| About Instructor: | Dr. Rajesh Kumar is a Professor of Political Science at School of Social Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab, India. As on date, he is Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Chairperson, Department of Sociology & History, formerly School of Social Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab. He has Doctoral degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Dr. Kumar's teaching and research interests are in the areas of Indian government and politics, International relations, foreign and security affairs. His publications include the book Indo-American Bilateral Relations ( Sage Publishers-2021) besides several articles contributed in Journals that are Scopus Indexed, besides articles in Springer Nature, Pakistan Horizon, World Focus, South Asian Affairs and Journal of Punjab Politics. His several articles are published in edited volumes published by renowned international publishers like Palgrave Mc Milan and Business Express Publishers. He has contributed more than 50 research articles in national UGC Care list Journals and other peer reviewed Journals of national and international repute.Till date, he has supervised 3 students with award of their doctoral degrees and another 09 are currently pursuing their Ph. D. under him. |
