| Introduction: | Dr Faiza Abbasi is the Director of UGC Human Resource Development Center AMU. She has done her PhD in Wildlife Sciences and has more than 20 years of teaching and research experience at AMU as a Faculty member. Taking up continuous professional development joined online courses of the Writer’s Bureau, Manchester UK and Harvard EdeX On duty of the Ministry of Education, Government of India she has traveled extensively to lecture in faculty development programs in universities and colleges in all parts of the country and abroad including the Ohio State University, US and the Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. She is an acclaimed public speaker and compere of all major academic events at AMU. Her lectures in student clubs and online platforms like YouTube and SWAYAM are very poplular. Her teaching and research interests are in the areas of Islamic eco theology and leadership for women. She has written/edited nine books and numerous chapters, papers and articles in Urdu and English. She is also on the review and editorial board of several national and international journals. Dr Faiza is actively engaged in social work for women empowerment. She is one of the chief functionaries of the Muslim Social Uplift Society in Sultan Jahan Manzil, Aligarh and has founded the ASRA (Aliagrh Self Reliance Alliance for women) Centre and Professor Jamshed Siddiqui IT Centre for Community Development. | Objectives: | Rationale of Faculty Induction Programme: 1. To sensitise and motivate the faculty to adopt learner centered approaches, ICT integrated learning and new pedagogic approaches to teaching- learning, assessment tools in higher education. 2. Implement curriculum reforms in the context of interdisciplinarity, multi-disciplinarity and applied approaches to knowledge. 3. Adopt flexible evaluation processes which are more scientific to evaluate multiple skills and competencies of students. 4. Promote four possible types of faculty development: personal (interpersonal skills, career development, and life planning issues); instructional (course design and development, instructional technology); organisational (ways to improve the institutional environment to better support teaching); and professional (ways to support faculty members so that they fulfil their multiple roles of teaching, research, and service). 6 GURU-DAKSHTA Faculty Induction Programme (FIP) 5. | Weekly Plan: | You are most welcome at the UGC Human Resource Development Centre, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. The AMU, is a historic institution that has been serving the cause of higher education since 1877, first as a College and then as a University since 1920. ➢ Your timetable will be uploaded soon on Google classroom. ➢ Each session will be of 90 minutes: 50-60 minutes presentation in English / Hindi followed by question and answer and discussion. ➢ Course Platform: Google Classroom (For assignments) / Google Meet (For Live Classes) Google Meet has recording facility. It will be used for the attendance record to be sent to UGC and Google Classroom will be used for collecting your submitted assignments. The medium for instruction at the UGC Human Resource Development Centre is English, as it is a Central University and many course participants are from non-Hindi speaking states. We nonetheless request the Resource Persons to use mixed languages English and Hindi for the benefit of all the participants. | Certification: | 1) E-Library: An e-library of open access books on topics relevant to the modules of the FIP, has been created on our website. These are elementary level classes and aimed at imparting basic knowledge only. 4) AzadikaAmritMahotsav: To mark the grand celebration of the “AzadiKaAmritMahotsav” the UGC HRDC, AMU is organizing an essay competition amongst all its participants. Kindly see the guidelines on our website and participate in large numbers to honour this grand celebration of our democracy. ➢ On your successful completion of the course, the Certificate will be generated from our website. | Assessment Plan Method: | ➢ Your assignments will be created on the Google classroom and must be submitted before the last date. The after lunch sessions will be used for the same. ➢ 1. Teacher’s Presentation: On any topic of your choice for evaluating your teaching skills and performance (make a 5-7 minutes video presentation in English/Hindi/Urdu) and upload it on the Google Classroom. (20 Marks) ➢ 2. Seminar Presentation: Your observations/comments in Hindi/ English/Urdu on any ONE story included in Food for Thought uploaded on Google Classroom (10 minutes video in English/Hindi or Urdu). (20 Marks) ➢ 3. Written Project Assignment: 1000 words in English/Hindi/Urdu with MS Word on any ONE of the topics given below: (20 Marks) • What will I do for national integration? • What will I do for improving the quality of education in my institution? • What will I do for ensuring gender justice? • What will I do for promoting better environment? • My idea of a good teacher. • What I will never do to keep my academic integrity intact. • What I will do to promote the use of ICT in teaching and learning. Please note that the manuscripts will be evaluated for the originality of content. ➢ 4. Quiz: 20 MCQs will be uploaded for you to solve in 60 minutes on the Google classroom. Questions will be on the course content. Your score will be generated automatically. ➢ 5. Overall assessment: on the basis of your punctuality, regularity and congeniality in the classes you will be given marks out of 20. The grades will be as follows: A+: 85 percent and above. A: 70 percent to less than or equal to 84 percent. B: 60 percent to less than or equal to 69 percent. C: 50 percent to less than or equal to 59 percent. F: Below 49 percent. Those teacher participants who get F grades are required to repeat the programme after a gap of one year with no financial commitment to UGC HRDC. |
