Introduction: The refresher course is intended to impart in depth and up-to-date knowledge of the emerging trends in the field of computer science for the faculties who are working in higher education institutions. The refresher course in computer science was held online from 12.10.2022 to 25.10.2022. There were 31 participants attended from various institutions all over India. The course was for two weeks. There were 48 sessions including inauguration, test, presentation, valedictory and technical sessions. The eminent faculties and industry persons were invited from NIT, IIIT, JNU, State universities, IBM, Oracle, Intel (USA) and Soongsil University (South Korea). The areas that were covered in this course are Cyber Security, Machine Learning, IoT, blockchain technology, Data analytics, FOSS, Privacy preservation and accessibility computing.
Objectives: • To enhance the competence of the teaching • To upgrade the current trends in the field of computer science • To provide deep insight in the emerging trends

About Instructor: Prof. S.Siva Sathya is currently heading the Department of Computer Science in Pondicherry University. She has 22 years of experience in teaching and research. She has to her credit more than 100 publications in reputed journals and International conferences. Her research interests include Evolutionary & Bio-inspired Computing, Machine Learning, Spatial Data Mining, & Vehicular Ad hoc Networks. She has produced 5 Ph.D.s and guided several M.Tech. projects. She is the recipient of the prestigious “Naari Shakthi Puraskar 2017” from the Hon.President of India for developing the women safety app MITRA. She has also obtained the Chairman’s distinction award in the South Asia’s mBillionth award 2017 for mobile innovation. She is member of several Academic and Administrative bodies and is part of live projects for the Puducherry police and JIPMER.

Certification: Assessment and Grading (i) A+: 85 percent and above (ii) A: 70 per cent to less than or equal to 84 percent (iii) B: 60 per cent to less than or equal to 69 per cent (iv) C: 50 per cent to less than or equal to 59 per cent (v) F: Below 49 per cent Those teacher participants who get F grades are required to repeat the programme after a gap of one year without financial commitment to UGC-HRDC. A certificate is provided to all the eligible participants signed by the Director, HRDC; Course Co-ordinator and The Vice Chancellor.
