Introduction: |
The 13th Faculty Induction Programme, held at Pondicherry University from August 7th to September 3rd, 2024, was a comprehensive training initiative designed to equip new faculty members with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their roles. The program covered a wide range of topics, including teaching methodologies, research ethics, leadership, and university policies. The program emphasized the importance of effective teaching methods, including the use of technology and innovative approaches. Participants were also introduced to research methodologies, ethics, and funding opportunities. Additionally, the program focused on cultivating leadership skills among new faculty members, enabling them to contribute to the university's growth. Faculty members were familiarized with the university's regulations, policies, and governance structures.
The 13th Faculty Induction Programme (FIP) organized by the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (UGC-MMTTC), Pondicherry University, was an intensive 28-day residential course held from August 7 to September 3, 2024. This comprehensive program aimed to prepare newly appointed teachers for their academic and administrative responsibilities while also enhancing their professional and personal growth. In this course report, we will walk through the highlights of each day, focusing on both the inaugural and valedictory sessions, as well as the key topics covered on a daily basis.

Objectives: |
• To sensitize and motivate the faculty to adopt learner centered approaches, ICT integrated learning and new pedagogic approaches to teaching-learning assessment tools in higher education.
• To implement curriculum reforms in the context of interdisciplinarity, multi-disciplinarity and applied approaches to knowledge.
• To adopt flexible evaluation processes which are more scientific to evaluate multiple skills and competencies of students.
• To promote research and innovation in higher education.
• To develop professional ethics and values among faculty members.
• To create a conducive environment for learning and teaching.
• To enhance the personality, initiative and creativity of faculty members.

Certification: |
The grades should be as follows:
A+: 85 percent and above
A: 70 per cent to less than or equal to 84 percent
B: 60 per cent to less than or equal to 69 per cent
C: 50 per cent to less than or equal to 59 per cent
F: Below 49 per cent
Those teacher participants who get F grades are required to repeat the programme after a gap of one year without financial commitment to UGC-HRDC.
Each certificate was signed by the Vice Chancellor of Pondicherry University, Director of UGC-HRDC and the Co-ordinator of the course.

Course Effectiveness
The effectiveness of Faculty Induction Programmes is ensured through the following quality indicators:
i. Attitudinal changes, skill development and inculcation of professional values
ii. Reporting of previous day proceedings, workshops and seminars are made compulsory for all the participants.
iii. Proper planning and scheduling of the course are the prime focus
iv. The contents of the Refresher Courses are relevant to the curriculum of the Undergraduate/Postgraduate teaching.
v. Whenever possible inter-disciplinary courses are organised.
vi. Resource persons are evaluated by the participants through a standardized proforma and those who are not effective may be dropped.
vii. Electronic Media lab and EDUSAT connectivity are used for all the courses so as to enable the participants to prepare e-content resources.
viii. ICT Resources are arranged in the HRDC for effective use of computer lab.
The total marks are fixed at 100 and the same may be decided in the following manner:
