| Introduction: | This two-week Offline Refresher Course in Mathematical Sciences is aimed to train the faculty of higher educational institutes (HEI) in the domain of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science, so that they can effectively coup up with National Educational Policy (NEP-2020). The programme will primarily focus on building the knowledge of the techniques of Mathematical and Computational Sciences. Learning programming languages like Python / SageMath / Scilab / GeoGebra / Rsoftware etc. will provide an exciting opportunity to delve into the profound wisdom of mathematical sciences and combine it with the power of modern programming. This unique programme will introduce participants to the rich heritage of Mathematical sciences and to demonstrate the effectiveness and versatility of programming languages and will prepare them to unlock new perspectives on the knowledge of Mathematical sciences and computational efficiency. | Objectives: | 1. Familiarize participants with the principles and techniques of Mathematical Sciences. 2. | About Instructor: | Dr. Shridhar C. Patekar (M. Sc., Ph. D.) is working in the Department of Mathematics, Savitribai Phule Pune University as an Associate Professor. He has 19 years of teaching and research experience in the University and College. The area of research is Spectral Graph Theory. Published more than 10 research articles in several reputed journals. Presented more than 15 research papers at various National / International conferences in India. Published articles in newspapers regarding career opportunities in mathematics. Completed one Research Project and one is ongoing. Presently working as a Coordinator of IGNOU study centre 1675P. Worked as a BoS member and organized more than five national/ international conferences. Delivered various talks at Remedial classes / NET-SET workshops / Public / Popular lectures / Talks. In the capacity of Coordinator organized some workshops and some are as follows: 1. Workshop on MATLAB held at the Department of Mathematics, Savitribai Phule Pune University during 6-7 March 2020. 2. National Mathematics Day Celebration held at the Department of Mathematics, Savitribai Phule Pune University on 21 – 22 Dec 2021. |
| Weekly Plan: | Considering the nature of the refresher course, the contents are classified into various sections like interactive sessions with subject matter experts, assignments based on the sessions and research activities, MCQ type tests, seminars, etc. To increase active participation and to monitor the holistic response of the participants, they would provided with various responsibilities like Introduction of resource persons and vote of thanks, conduct of sessions and other programmes. Tentatively it is planned to organize all these activities weekly beginning with an Inaugural session on very first day and subsequently covering other activities. The last week would primarily be focused on seminars and evaluation of the participants. Although the plan may change depending on the availability of experts. |
