Introduction: |
Refresher Course in Indian Languages and Literature (Hindi and Sanskrit) was held in UGC- Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (UGC-MMTTC) from 06th – 19th March, 2024 from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Prof. G. Sreenivasu, Vice Chancellor, Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya, Kanchipuram was the Chief Guest. Prof. Panch. Ramalingam, chaired the session. Dr.C. Jaya Sankar Babu, Coordinator of the Refresher Course presented the scope of the Refresher Course and motivated the participants to utilize all the facilities available in the UGC-MMTTC and Pondicherry University during their course. Prof. G. Sreenivasu, Vice Chancellor, SCSVMV, Kanchipuram outlined the importance of Refresher Course for the university and college teachers and highlighted the importance of language studies in general and Sanskrit in particular in the higher education curriculum. Prof. Panch. Ramalingam, the Director, UGC-MMTTC spoke on the importance of the Refresher Course and motivated the participating faculty members to get inspired by the lectures of eminent resource persons invited for delivering lectures in the Refresher Course. Participants introduced themselves to the august forum. Dr. K. Srujana, Assistant Professor, UGC-MMTTC, Pondicherry University proposed the vote of thanks. |

About Instructor: |
C. Jaya Sankar Babu has served in mainstream media and conducted research in journalism. He is the Founder Editor of ‘Yug Manas’ Literary Journal, Chief Editor of ‘Antar Bharati’ monthly and editorial board member of few research journals. He initiated Digital Literacy Mission for computing in Indian Languages, organized workshops and imparted skills to many. He served in the jury of National Level Awards of Government of India. He is implementing SPARC project on ‘The History of Hindi: from Apabhramsa to early modern vernacular’ in collaboration with Prof. Eva De Clercq, Ghent University, Belgium. He has developed e-content and MOOCs. |
Weekly Plan: |
Daily four sessions of ninety minutes each were held from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. participants were assembling in the classroom of UGC-MMTTC by 9.30 a.m. daily. Sessions were commencing with Pondicherry University Anthem. Further report presentation of the previous day sessions and followed by introduction of the Resource Person was done by the participants. A Google classroom was created for all academic interactions beyond the classroom and the participants were submitting their reports and Research Paper in the Google classroom. Microteaching sessions by the participants were ensured on a daily basis during the course. They have also submitted the seminar presentations in the Google classroom. Seminar presentations were held on 14th March in two sessions, participants presented their research presentations in the seminar. Later on the same day in the last session a visit of EMRC Studio, Pondicherry University was arranged to orient about e-content development and MOOCS to the participants. Further a visit to Dept. of Hindi and Sanskrit was also arranged to interact with the Faculty members and the Scholars. |

Assessment and Grading
(i) A+: 85 percent and above
(ii) A: 70 per cent to less than or equal to 84 percent
(iii) B: 60 per cent to less than or equal to 69 per cent
(iv) C: 50 per cent to less than or equal to 59 per cent
(v) F: Below 49 per cent
Those teacher participants who get F grades are required to repeat the programme
after a gap of one year without financial commitment to UGC-HRDC.

This program has been scheduled with two forenoon sessions of 90minutes each followed by two afternoon sessions. This continued for two weeks.
The total marks are fixed at 100 and the same may be decided in the following
manner:
The participants were assessed based on five criteria, namely Participants’ Response, Seminar Presentation, Micro Teaching, Project Proposals, and Objective Type Test. The assessment was made based on the overall participation of the participants and their performance in the evaluation processes.
(i) Overall response - 25
(ii) Seminars - 15
(iii) Project work- 20
(iv) Micro-teaching - 10
(v) Multiple-choice objective tests -30
