Introduction: Guru dakshita Faculty induction programme heralds a new era ensuring quality and excellence in higher education. This programme aims to improve the professional ability and performance of freshly inducted faculty. The primary objective of the mandatory induction programmes is to train and prepare the faculty to adopt learner centered approaches. This induction programme will comprise of teaching and research methodologies such as collaborative learning, flip classrooms, curriculum structure and design, expertise in ICT, professional ethics, sharing of best practices and updating developments in their field of study, etc. Faculty development has a decisive role to play in endorsing academic brilliance, teaching innovation, research capabilities and improvement of leadership skills. This ensures improving the professional capability and performance of teachers to promote effective and qualitative learning. Every Faculty Induction Programme includes ways to develop interpersonal skills, career advancement, course design, instructional technology, means to improve the institutional environment to better support teaching and professional growth of the faculty. In these courses UGC-HRDC Pondicherry University attempted to improve and update the knowledge of teachers about the present-day developments as well as advanced teaching learning methods essential to continue teaching learning process during this post COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
Objectives: • To sensitize and motivate the faculty to adopt learner centered approaches, ICT integrated learning and new pedagogic approaches to teaching-learning assessment tools in higher education. • To implement curriculum reforms in the context of interdisciplinarity, multi-disciplinarity and applied approaches to knowledge. • To adopt flexible evaluation processes which are more scientific to evaluate multiple skills and competencies of students. • To promote research and innovation in higher education. • To develop professional ethics and values among faculty members. • To create a conducive environment for learning and teaching. • To enhance the personality, initiative and creativity of faculty members.

Certification: The grades should be as follows: A+: 85 percent and above A: 70 per cent to less than or equal to 84 percent B: 60 per cent to less than or equal to 69 per cent C: 50 per cent to less than or equal to 59 per cent F: Below 49 per cent Those teacher participants who get F grades are required to repeat the programme after a gap of one year without financial commitment to UGC-HRDC. Each certificate was signed by the Vice Chancellor of Pondicherry University, Director of UGC-HRDC and the Co-ordinator of the course.

Assessment Plan Method: Course Effectiveness The effectiveness of Faculty Induction Programmes is ensured through the following quality indicators: i. Attitudinal changes, skill development and inculcation of professional values ii. Reporting of previous day proceedings, workshops and seminars are made compulsory for all the participants. iii. Proper planning and scheduling of the course are the prime focus iv. The contents of the Refresher Courses are relevant to the curriculum of the Undergraduate/Postgraduate teaching. v. Whenever possible inter-disciplinary courses are organised. vi. Resource persons are evaluated by the participants through a standardized proforma and those who are not effective may be dropped. vii. Electronic Media lab and EDUSAT connectivity are used for all the courses so as to enable the participants to prepare e-content resources. viii. ICT Resources are arranged in the HRDC for effective use of computer lab. The total marks are fixed at 100 and the same may be decided in the following manner: Overall response 20 Seminars (in diverse topics mentioned in component A of 6 above) 20 Project/survey/others (topics like climate change, environment and social connect etc)20 Micro-teaching/participation 20 Multiple-choice objective tests 20
