Introduction: A 14-day interdisciplinary Refresher Course covering Economics, Commerce, and Business Studies was conducted during February 15-28, 2023. Speakers were invited from Central Universities, IITs, NITs, IIMs and State Universities. The Course Coordinator was Dr. B. Charumathi, Professor and Former Head, Department of Management Studies, Pondicherry University. A total of fourteen faculty members from different parts of India participated in the course. The course featured a diverse range of topics spanning innovation, entrepreneurship, ethics, branding, financial markets, qualitative and experimental research methodologies, AI applications, sustainable development, HRM, supply chain management, disruptive HR practices, spirituality in leadership, fintech, tourism, e-governance, neuro marketing, and more.
Objectives: 1.Update participants on the latest advancements and trends across various business disciplines 2.Foster an understanding of how business interacts with other fields like economics, commerce and management. 3. Equip participants with the ability to apply interdisciplinary knowledge to solve complex business problems and make informed decisions. 4. Motivate professionals to stay current with evolving business practices and embrace lifelong learning in a dynamic business environment.

About Instructor: Mr. Ramanan Ramanathan, Former Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission and Former Additional Secretary of NITI Aayog, New Delhi was the inaugural Chief Guest and he delivered a session on Innovation and Landscape in India. From Pondicherry University, Prof. Lalitha, Prof. Bhushan, Prof. Mothilal, Prof. Madan, Prof. K.S. Kuppusamy, Prof. Venkatesakumar, Prof. Ramachandran, Prof. Subramania Raju, Prof. P. G. Arul, Prof. Sampad Kumar Swain and Prof. Banumathi handled sessions and interacted with the participants. From other central universities, Prof. Sunita Singh Sengupta from University of Delhi and Prof. Jyothi and Prof. Chetan Srivastava from University of Hyderabad delivered lectures. From IITs, Prof. Badri Narayan Rath; from IIMs, Prof. Sankarshan Basu and Prof. Gopal; from NITs, Dr. Neeraj Kaushik, Prof. Radha Ramanan, Prof. Sahu, Prof. Mavoothu handed sessions and interacted with the participants. Mr. Srinivasan from State Planning Commission, Tamil Nadu also delivered one session on budgeting.

Certification: (i) A+: 85 percent and above (ii) A: 70 per cent to less than or equal to 84 percent (iii) B: 60 per cent to less than or equal to 69 per cent (iv) C: 50 per cent to less than or equal to 59 per cent (v) F: Below 49 per cent Those teacher participants who get F grades are required to repeat the programme after a gap of one year without financial commitment to UGC-HRDC. A certificate is provided to all the eligible participants signed by the Director, HRDC; Course Co-ordinator and The Vice Chancellor.

Assessment Plan Method: The participants were assessed based on five criteria, namely Participants’ Response, Seminar Presentation, Micro Teaching, Project Proposals, and Objective Type Test. The assessment was made based on the overall participation of the participants and their performance in the evaluation processes.
