Introduction: The Refresher Programme in Human Rights (Multi-disciplinary) for College and University Teachers is designed to provide educators with a comprehensive understanding of human rights from a multidisciplinary perspective. This program aims to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively teach human rights issues in their respective fields of expertise. Human rights are fundamental principles that recognize the inherent dignity and worth of every individual, and they encompass a wide range of civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights. By understanding human rights and their relevance in different contexts, educators can play a vital role in promoting human rights awareness, fostering inclusivity, and encouraging respect for diversity among students. The refresher program is tailored specifically for college and university teachers across various disciplines, including but not limited to law, political science, sociology, history, international relations, and social work. By bringing together educators from diverse backgrounds, the program promotes interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration, enriching participants' understanding of human rights through different lenses.
Objectives: Objectives of the course 1.The programme aims to provide participants with updated information on key concepts, theories, and legal frameworks related to human rights. It covers recent developments in the field, emerging challenges, and contemporary debates. 2.As human rights issues cut across multiple disciplines, the course adopts a multi-disciplinary approach. It encourages participants to explore human rights from various perspectives, such as law, politics, sociology, philosophy, economics, and international relations. 3.The programme aims to equip participants with effective teaching methodologies and strategies to incorporate human rights education into their courses. It focuses on innovative pedagogical approaches, case studies, interactive exercises, and the use of technology to engage students and foster critical thinking. 4.The programme aims to develop participants' skills in analyzing human rights violations and their root causes. It provides tools and frameworks for assessing human rights situations, conducting research, and identifying strategies for promoting and protecting human rights at the local, national, and international levels. 5.Human rights education fosters ethical awareness and a commitment to social justice.
