Introduction: The Refresher Course in Manuscriptology and Heritage Studies is conceived as a bridge course to Introduce these two disciplines related internally in many aspects. The knowledge and skills transacted through this course will enable learners to understand all aspects of Manuscriptology and Heritage Studies and it will promote research and interest in Indian knowledge system with particular emphasis on these disciplines. There should be an interdisciplinary and international growing field of research studying how the past is used valued and institutionalized in the present Manuscriptology is intended to impart knowledge and skills required for a practitioner of manuscriptology in Kerala, India and abroad. The course will cover areas like palaeography, epigraphy, conservation, textual criticism, cataloguing of manuscripts etc. It will provide hands on training to handle, read and write palm leaf manuscripts. Likewise the course will also focus on the various aspects of Heritage studies and its methodology. It will address the history, heritage conservation etc are related subjects. It will helps to examine our history and tradition and enable the learners to develop an awareness about ourselves. The Course will consist of Lecture classes, interactive sessions as well as practical classes because of the nature of manuscript studies and heritage studies.
Objectives: Objectives of the Course I. Understand the basic concepts, principles interdisciplinary areas and practice of Manuscriptology & Heritage studies 2. Promote research and interest in Indian knowledge System with particular emphasis on these two disciplines 3. provide knowledge about our past and the evolving of our society 4. Develop skills of reading and editing manuscripts 5. Aquire knowledge on preserving manuscripts and heritage 6. Interpret ancient documents within cultural and historical aspects 7. Understand various steps to be taken for Studying these disciplines

About Instructor: Dr. R.B. Sreekala, the Course Co-ordinator is the Professor & Head of the Department of Oriental Research Institute & Manuscripts Library, University of Kerala. Her experience is branched out in areas of Manuscriptology, Palaeography. Malaylam Grammar, Literary Criticism in Malayalam and Eastern Literary Theories. She has published more than 90 articles and out of them 25 are in UGC Care Listed Journals. She has done many research projects including the field of Manuscriptology. She had many programmes related to language Studies in Prasar Bharathi. She worked as teacher in Malayalam Language and Literature in many govt. sectors and has 17 yrs of teaching experience. She was a member is many bodies like UG & PG Boards She has produced six Ph.Ds and now supervising eight research scholars. She is the author of Seven books In different subjects including manuscriptology. She won NV Smaraka Vaijnanika Award by State Institute of Languages in 2010 and also won P.R. Karmaachandra Award by Yuvakalaasahiti for best Liferay Study in 2016.
