| Introduction: | The Faculty Induction Programme (Guru-Dakshta) has been introduced by UGC. This programme is meant for the new entrants in teaching profession at higher education. The FIP is designed within the framework provided by UGC, understanding the needs of faculty members focusing on professional as well as personal development of teachers. The Faculty Induction Programme conducted by the HRDC, SPPU is a result of constant efforts put in by all the stakeholders especially, the feedback of participants and resource persons combined with the need analysis initiatives of HRDC, SPPU. The programme is designed for 4 weeks (30 days) focusing on enhancing professional effectiveness by becoming a better individual and appreciated teacher. All these areas are covered by experts from respective fields representing various parts of the country. The programme is delivered using innovative methods and tools in interactive manner. Encouraged and active participation as a result of open and healthy learning environment has been the key feature of the induction programmes at HRDC, SPPU. This personalized and need based programme has become popular and is appreciated by teachers from across the country. |
| Objectives: | • To provide a comprehensive overview of Indian higher education system • To provide essential, knowledge and skills to be an active contributor in curriculum designing, outcomes learning procedure and choice-based credit system • Enable teachers to equip themselves with high quality teaching, learning and assessment skills • Encourage participants to use the potential of technology in teaching and assessment • To enable participants to attain basic skills in personal – emotional development and counselling • To enable participants to acquire research skills, leadership qualities and facilitating one’s own professional development • To promote academic integrity, to have trustworthy and high quality academic outputs from higher education institutions • To sensitise constitutional values, human rights and fundamental duties that help to internalize the need for an egalitarian and sustainable society • To develop awareness on environmental consciousness and sustainable development goals among participants and promote critical evaluation of the current status and future potential of India • To make the participants deal effectively with rapidly changing circumstances, improve internal management and institutional performance. |

| About Instructor: | An ideal combination of people’s person and a good administrator, Dr Sachin Surve is the Coordinator at the Faculty Development Centre, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. He is a renowned, certified Soft Skills Trainer with certifications from DOPT, Government of India, European International University, France, Centre for Training & Professional Development, Asian College of Teachers and Harvard University, UK. While handling various academic as well as administrative position in the prestigious Savitribai Phule Pune University, he has developed participative leadership at his workplace. His innovative and enthusiastic nature leads him to design, deliver and coordinate innovating training programs for diverse target groups representing different segments of society. He has been instrumental in designing and successfully implementing online Refresher Courses on Leadership and Governance in higher education (Level I and II) under ARPIT program for SWAYAM of MHRD, Government of India. Dr. Sachin has successfully designed and coordinated MOOCs on Negotiation Skills and Conflict Management (4 credit course) and Personality Development and Communication Skills (3 credit course) for CEC and SWAYAM. He strives to bring changes in the system by working on the mindset and overall behavior of the people in the society. He has so far published 2 books, 8 research papers and 4 chapters |
