Introduction: The University Grants Commission, in pursuance of the National Policy on Education 1986 and its programme of action, had set up 66 Academic Staff Colleges (ASCs) in different Universities/Institutions in the country. The Academic Staff Colleges so established are conducting specially designed orientation programmes for newly appointed lecturers and refresher courses for in service teachers.
Objectives: 1. To inculcate an in-depth knowledge of development studies in Commerce, management and economics. 2. To be a forum to abreast of the latest advances in the subject of development studies. 3. To provide opportunities for serving teachers to exchange experiences with their peers and mutually learn from each other.
